The MOOCs

I think the online learning via CodeAcademy is useful for me to learn something about pythons which I haven’t known before, although I am not interested in it. Therefore, the MOOCs are practical for those people whom are not able to go to colleges. Just like the God father of online learning, Sebastian Thrun says “I’d aspired to give people a profound education – to teach them something substantial.”

But, the point is so idealism that ignores the fact. The only reason for people whom learn online courses is for employment. A traditional education is not satisfied with their will and the people have no patience to complete the course. Most of them can easily drop the courses, because the policies of online learning are not as strict as that of universities. And, in order to get a job quickly, they only need the short courses of technology to improve their abilities in a short term. Just like Sebastian Thrun says “we’re not doing anything as rich and powerful as what a traditional liberal-arts education would offer you. At the end of the day, the true value proposition of education is employment.”
